Hi Kara .
Hope you are fine, well i'm not quiet sure if you are wanting information as a parent, study or a child care worker but, I've been studying my cert III and have been doing some stuff on Transition, Settling in, arrival and departure I found this site which I found helped. NCAC - Puting Children First
http://www.ncac.gov.au/resources/pcf_past_issues I found a lot of factsheets in the site,so have a look and see how you go ok.I hope this helps let me know I can have a look and see what else I might have. Sorry if you get 2 replies I wrote 1 yesterday but was'nt to sure if it went through so i do apologise

         Kerri

Hello Kara,

Welcome to the child care forums.

I can't really give you any professional advice, but I can tell you what worked pretty well for our youngest.

Nicole took Jorja to day care for the first few days, and spent most of the day there with her. Jorja was a pretty clingy kid, but playing with the other kids and the carers with the support of her mother there really made her realise that there was nothing to be scared of, in fact it was a pretty fun place to be.

On the downside of this I guess, is that it probably won't work for everyone. Unfortunately not everyone has the time to put into it, and it would probably not work for infants.

It did work great for us though. Jorja now loves day care, and goes off quite happily. Most of the time...
