Would love some different ideas on any craft, cooking, games etc, to keep 3 year old boy with loads of energy entertained.

One thing that you might like to do with your little boy is cutting, children around that age love to use scissors to cut. If you set him up with a pair of scissors, some paper,or even old magazines he will cut everything. You could draw a few different large shapes for him to try and cut along the lines, make sure you start off easy though so he can't really fail. You may like to add a little bit of paste and coloured paper so what he cuts out he can then glue onto another piece of paper, making wonderful creations and using his imagination too, you can then let him tell you about what he has done. Of course though you will need to supervise this activity closely.
I hope this is something you can use, and that it works.

Check out activities in the parents section for more ideas, or activities in the resource section.......

  3. A fantastic resource for anyone hanging out with kids is the Playschool books, and the website. This way you can watch the show, reinforce the games, activitites and songs throughout the day. The program notes can be found through the ABC Kids Playschool site on the parent link.

One thing I always do with three year olds is the archeaology dig.

Get out in the sand pit and bury a selection of dinosaurs or other plastic animals. GO on a 'hunt' we often use the song "We're going on a bear bear hunt" and change the words. A big Magnifying Glass (even a cardboard cut out) makes it even more special. When we arrive at the sandpit, use diggers and big paintbrushes to reveal the animals.

This will last for ages. You can even wet the sand to make it firm and change the texture. (depends on the weather though).

  4. Great ideas, BarefootNanny.

My daughter and I have spent hours on the ABC Website. I have added it to the Child Carers Directory.

As for the sand pit idea, that is fantastic. It sounds like it is not only the children that have fun with that one..

I just used the puppet show idea out of the resource section, my daughter is now playing with my little pony puppets we made and she has added her own ideas. She made a garden to the front of it, and we made a water fountain using a toilet roll and blue paper I curled sticking out of the top. She also added some suculent candles as bushes/trees.
